What should we wear to our family session?
If you are anything like me, the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking about your family photo session, is what on earth are we all going to wear? I start thinking about outfits months in advance, so I don't have to wait till the last minute to shop frantically for somebody's outfit. Today I wanted to share with you at great session for outfit inspiration from a family of 6!
Coordinating different shades of blue for family photos
Blue is one of my favorite colors for pictures. Typically, since I shoot so much outside, we are surrounded by many different shades of green, and all shades of blue seem to look great with green. As a bonus, blue can act as both a pop of color when in the teal range, as well as a neutral when it's more along the lines of navy. Take for example the Vice family. Most everyone has some shade of blue on. Navy works as a neutral, looking great both with khaki shorts and blue jeans. But Dad has on a great checked shirt with different shades of blue, bringing in a pop of color and adding interest to the look. The oldest boys are twins, which is why they have on the same thing, but the middle son can change up the look with a striped shirt.
Mixing patterns for family photos
Don't be afraid of pattern when planning your outfits for family photos! A nice mix of classic patterns can look great without clashing. Take for example Ben's striped shirt. Even though it's a pattern, it's still a simple and timeless look, and it looks great next to dads checkered shirt. Baby girl has a floral pattern on the top of her precious little romper, and even though it's busy, it's just the right amount of pattern to add interest to the look without being overwhelming. There's also some subtle pattern in the twins shorts. Did you notice they have dinosaurs embroidered on their shorts? How fun is that for little boys! Mom even has a subtle pattern in her shirt’s texture.
