Baby's First Year: When should I do newborn photos? {Baby Photographers Nashville}
Planning ahead
If you’re expecting a new baby, there is probably a lot of preparation going on, from designing the perfect nursery to shopping for those precious tiny outfits, to picking out names.
As you’re making your preparations, don’t forget to plan for baby photos! This precious bundle of joy is going to make your heart explode, and when you’re feeling sleep deprived, scheduling professional pictures of your baby is something that might slip your mind. You might also be wondering the best time to schedule your baby photos.
Best times for newborn photos
Within the first few days of a baby’s life, they will likely have lots of sleepy days as they are adjusting to life outside the womb. It’s sometimes nice to take advantage of those sleepy moments to do a quiet, simple newborn session. As a general rule of thumb, within the first two weeks of life is the best time to book a newborn portrait session.
In home newborn photos
For my clients, I come to them at a time that is convenient to baby’s sleeping and eating schedule. We shoot the photos in your home, typically in baby’s nursery that you spent so much time perfecting before his or her arrival. While baby is nice and sleepy, we will work quickly to get photos of baby alone without having to stop too often to comfort baby.
Newborn photos with the whole family
Of course, babies love to be held! And during your newborn session, we can get lots of pictures of baby snuggled with mama and daddy. So even if your baby isn’t super sleepy or doesn’t like to be put down for very long, that’s totally ok! Here are some photos from when baby Beau was fresh to give you an idea of what to expect during your newborn session.
Capturing the newborn phase
Babies change fast, and I mean really fast. That’s why it’s usually best to schedule your professional newborn photos within the first two weeks of baby’s arrival. Yes, things might feel hectic during this time, but if you plan ahead, everything can still go very smoothly. You might be shocked at just how fast those two weeks fly by, especially when the last weeks of pregnancy seem to be crawling! Email me now to go ahead and get a newborn session penciled in!
